Fashion and mining meet to change narrative: Dr Amanda Healy
Amanda has more than 35 years’ experience in the mining industry spanning across Australia, Africa and Canada working for companies including BHP, Rio Tinto, and Western Mining.
In 2014, she established industry-leading social enterprise, Kirrikin which digitally prints Aboriginal artwork onto luxurious cashmere and silk fabrics and garments. The company employs and shares business profits with Aboriginal artists.
Two years later she launched mechanical maintenance business Warrikal, the Indigenous-owned and operated company provides training, mentorship, and work opportunities for Indigenous people to help address socio-economic advantage.
Last year, Warrikal landed the single largest contract ever awarded to an Aboriginal business in Australia, as one of the providers of maintenance and shutdown services at Fortescue Metals Group’s Pilbara operations.
