    Alan. Such approvals as needed in WA would depend on if the initiative came under the gambit of either the Planning and Development Act or the Local Government Act. Should the LGA have a Town Planning Scheme that had implications for the initiative, the LGA would firstly have to approve and, subject to the nature of the change, it might have to refer it to DPIRD and/or the WA Planning Commission. The simple act of designating a geotrail probably would not conflict with any legislation unless there was a proposed change in land tenure. But it is an area where there would be no legal precedent and no clear legal guidance in this State.
