The City of Logan and the rest of Australia, like many parts of the world, can expect climate change to exacerbate the frequency and severity of events such as foods, droughts, heatwaves and bushfires.
We will increasingly be affected by changes in temperature, rainfall, sea level and extreme weather conditions. The impacts of such events in many parts of the world include population displacement, damage to infrastructure and species shift. Less recognised are the indirect flow-on effects and opportunities. These can be changes to policy, legal frameworks, technology and markets. Examples include higher insurance costs or inability to get insurance for newly food affected areas following policy changes to insurance premiums or risks associated with changes to legal liability case law. |
