Over the past 20 years, we have invested in establishing some key innovation places in the state, including the Herston Health Precinct; the Boggo Road Precinct including the Ecosciences Precinct, the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Translational Research Institute; and the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct.

iMOVE is a national centre for transport and mobility R&D. We work with our partners to deliver high-impact R&D collaborations that improve the transport systems for people and freight nationally.

iMOVE runs the iMOVE Cooperative Research Centre which is funded by the federal government and its government, industry and research partners over 10 years to tackle transport-related challenges in Australia.

The aim of Beddown is to take spaces that are commonly used and busy during the day but at night are left vacant or empty. Beddown then activates and repurposes the space at night into pop-up accommodation to ensure the homeless, those who are sleeping rough are then able to come and get into a bed at night.

Many of the homeless suffer from sleep deprivation due to the conditions of living on the streets, sleep deprivation can lead to many physical and mental health conditions, such as:
• Depression
• Diabetes
• Hypertension
• Obesity
• Memory Loss
• It can also impair cognitive function and lead to alcohol or drug use.
• Those who sleep rough are security conscious too in fear of being attacked and goods taken
By providing a safe, secure and comfortable place to get a good night’s rest, we help restore health, dignity and respect for our guests.

This event will be held consecutively over three venues in two countries. It begins with a Volcanic Youth Camp at Ijen UNESCO Global Geopark in East Java (1-2 July), followed by the main event at Rinjani-Lombok UNESCO Global Geopark Lombok (4-6 July), and concluding with a one-day workshop at The University of Sydney, Australia (18 July). The workshop will be accompanied by field trips, principally to be organised on 19 July. The workshop, to be addressed by invited speakers from both Indonesia and Australia, will focus on topics relevant to volcanic geotourism destinations.

The One Basin CRC is a focused collaboration developing policy, technical and financial solutions to support and reduce exposure to climate, water and environmental threats in the Murray-Darling Basin.

Drought hubs empower stakeholders to co-design drought preparedness activities and apply innovation to ensure a thriving future for the region. Hub members, partners and stakeholders apply proven drought-resilience research on the ground to make this happen.

The hub will improve innovation and its adoption across agriculture, industry, and the community.

The 8 hubs support farmers and communities to get ready for drought. They connect farmers with regional agricultural experts, innovation and new practices.

A Knowledge Broker is available at each hub. Their role is to translate science into practice for their region. They use their network to encourage collaboration and learning across the hubs. They also help build connections with other Future Drought Fund programs.

Superior Training Centre’s aim is to promote careers in electrical, air conditioning-refrigeration, and metal fabrication developing skilled workers throughout NSW and Australia. STC is an education provider started by tradies and taught by tradies so you get quality training & support. Our qualifications are part of the requirements for you to apply to become a licensed electrician, licensed air conditioning refrigeration, and licensed metal fabricator. We cater for, Apprentices, Fee for Service and International Students, Groups, and Corporate training.

What if we could turn our landfills into producers of renewable, clean energy – if the waste gas from our non-recyclable and non-reusable rubbish were a resource that had a second life?

That’s exactly what we’re doing in collaboration with the Toowoomba Regional Council. LGI is transforming the Toowoomba Waste Management Centre into a renewable energy superpower in the fight against climate change.

Our new renewable energy power station at this landfill is the first in Queensland to convert methane from landfill into electricity. Council’s most demanding energy user will now be mostly (90-100%) supplied with renewable power fuelled by waste gas the tip.

Toowoomba for Climate Action is playing our part to keep global average temperatures in a safe, liveable range, so that all humans, other species, and living systems can flourish.

Did you know that Toowoomba Regional Council was the first in Queensland to capture landfill methane for energy production?

Council has both reduced the emissions it is responsible for by 80% and now saves ratepayers over $1 million/year in energy savings!

Council’s most demanding energy user, the Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility, is now 90-100% supplied with free renewable power.

Dozens of other Councils have been inspired by Toowoomba Regional Council to do similar projects on their own landfills.
